The MSS Board works closely with the Administration and Faculty College as part of a three-pillared governing structure guiding Mojave Springs towards fulfilling its mission and goals of delivering holistic, Waldorf education to the Las Vegas Valley.
Scott Bornstein
Interim Chair | Waldorf Parent | Finance Executive
Scott brings a wealth of experience from his career in the retail industry, where he honed his skills in merchandise planning, sales analytics, and trend analysis. Over the years, his financial expertise has been invaluable to the Mojave Springs School community. Having served two years as Treasurer on the Board, Scott now serves as the Interim Chair, helping guide the school with a clear vision for its financial future. His ability to interpret complex financial data with sharp discernment ensures that the school’s mission and goals are always at the forefront of decision-making.
Scott has been an integral part of the Mojave Springs community for many years, with his son having attended the Tansy, Willows, and Honeybees classes. He and his family are now based in Denmark, where they remain deeply involved in the Waldorf community. Scott’s commitment to the values and mission of Mojave Springs continues to drive him as he helps the Board pursue its collective dreams for the future.
Mandalei Marie Kuhn
Vice Chair & Interim Secretary | Waldorf Parent | Lawyer
Mandalei is a former corporate lawyer turned entrepreneur and wellness advocate. After nearly 10 years in cross-border legal transactions, she left her legal career behind and traveled the world, eventually founding two international businesses offering wellness products sourced from indigenous communities in South America. Her expertise in strategic planning, operations, and legal matters makes her a strong addition to the Mojave Springs School Board.
A native Las Vegan, Mandalei is passionate about community building, having spent a year in AmeriCorps NCCC and volunteering with various charities. She is a yoga teacher, Reiki practitioner, sound healer, and animal lover, and deeply values the Waldorf method of education. Mandalei’s son is in the Early Childhood Program at Mojave Springs, and when not on campus, she enjoys leading Healing Circles or connecting with nature under the full moon.
Carleane Hawkins
Board Member | Community Advocate | HR Professional
A proud Kansas City, MO native and the oldest of five siblings, Carleane is deeply committed to making a lasting impact on her community. With a passion for service, she has dedicated her time and energy to supporting youth, the elderly, and underrepresented groups through various initiatives.
With over 20 years of experience in Human Resources, Carleane brings a wealth of knowledge in organizational development and people management. Her career has been centered around supporting others in their personal and professional growth, and she is deeply passionate about education. Carleane is a strong advocate for Mojave’s mission and approach, believing in the transformative power of education to uplift individuals and communities.
As an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., she works to create opportunities for empowerment and upliftment, particularly for young women. In addition to her community involvement, Carleane founded a nonprofit organization aimed at supporting young Black women recovering from strokes, addressing critical health disparities, and providing much-needed resources for their recovery journey. This initiative underscores her commitment to improving the lives of individuals in underserved communities.
Carleane joined the Board in 2024 and is very excited to be part of the Mojave Springs community.
