No age has a deeper impact on the whole of life than the first years of childhood.

At Mojave Springs, our early childhood teachers cherish each child holistically, fostering a space that mirrors the warmth and predictability of a loving home. Our program comprises three distinct classrooms, tailored to different age groups. Through regular assessments, we ensure every child’s placement aligns with their growth stage.

Our curriculum is a blend of practical and artistic activities, deeply attuned to the changing seasons. Children are immersed in activities like baking, gardening, and singing, all designed to stoke their natural curiosity and creativity. Storytelling and free play are integral, allowing their imaginations to soar. With natural materials at their fingertips, children engage in play that not only nurtures their individual interests but also lays a strong foundation for their academic journey ahead.

Tansy – toddlers

Our toddler classroom (ages 2 yrs – 3.5 yrs) is a warm home for young explorers taking their first steps into the world. As these curious little ones rapidly develop motor skills, communication, and learn how to be a part of a community, they are welcomed with kindness,  simplicity, loving caregivers, and predictable routines. The Tansy classroom offers a well-rounded experience centered around the essence of childhood: play.

Tansy’s daily and weekly rhythm includes stories, movement and music classes, Spanish lessons, bread-making, and an array of sensory activities to stimulate their head, heart, and hands.

Willows – preschool

In our preschool program (ages 3.5 yrs to 4 yrs, 9 mos), children embark on their educational journey, transitioning from the warmth of home to their first school environment. Met with kindness and simplicity, these eager learners dive into the wonders of childhood, where play is both the “heartbeat” and foundation.

Our carefully curated classroom, complete with handcrafted dolls, wooden pieces, and colorful beeswax for modeling, is designed to stimulate their innate curiosity, competence, and sense of community. Activities alternate between teacher-led and self-directed projects, fostering social awareness, fine and gross motor skills, and a deep connection to language and expression. Immersed in rich stories, watercolor painting, clay modeling, Spanish lessons, and outdoor play, children not only nurture their imaginations but also build resilience, stamina, and a profound connection to nature. At the core of our approach is the understanding that the genuine play and exploration so natural to childhood lays the foundation for future academic success.

Honeybee – transitional kindergarten/ kindergarten

In our kindergarten class, students are at a stage where their curiosity is boundless, and their capacity for imagination transforms simple objects into endless possibilities. Embracing their eagerness to contribute and be part of a community, our indoor-outdoor classroom environment fosters development through dynamic activity and movement. Here, learning is intertwined with joy and purpose.

Our kindergarteners engage in diverse activities from baking bread, gardening, and creating art, to more introspective moments with storytelling, puppet plays, and poetry. These experiences not only lay a strong foundation for academic pursuits but also instill values of stewardship, caring, and mutual support. With ample time dedicated to both indoor and outdoor play, children develop an innate love for creativity, absorb the fundamentals of science, and cultivate vital pre-literacy and arithmetic skills. Above all, they’re encouraged to dive deep into the world of imagination, appreciating nature, and the beauty of changing seasons.
